As Zermatt Switzerland is preparing for another exciting Matterhorn ski season, avid skiers have the opportunity to try out some of the newest ski models before ski season begins. The ski testing center in Zermatt will open for the 2013 ski season the weekend of October 5/6 and will be open on weekends until October 26 when it will be open daily through December 1. The ski center gives skiers and opportunity to try the latest models by some of the top manufacturers. This is a great way to take advantage of some pre-season skiing as well as discover their new favorite ski brand and model.
The ski test center is located at the top station of Trockener Steg. Experts are on hand for consultations and fittings. Bring your own ski boots and poles or rent them from one of the many equipment stores in Zermatt. Some Zermatt hotels also have ski rentals at the hotel for the convenience of their guests. Once you choose a pair of skis, they will be adjusted to your boots in just a few minutes and you will be off to the slopes to test them for yourself. Skiers can choose from such well-known ski brands as Atomic, Blizzard, Dynastar, Elan, Fischer, Head, K2, Movement, Nordica, Rossignol, Salomon, Scott and Völkl.
To make ski testing even more enjoyable and affordable for pre-season skiers, many Zermatt resorts are offering special packages for guests who want to try out new skis. Two and three day packages are available with a variety of Zermatt accommodation types. Packages include lodging, ski passes, ski testing and instructions for licensed skiing instructors. The packages are available beginning October 5 through November 26. This winter skiers can take advantage of pre-season ski testing with a new ski abonnement ticket. This ticket is valid for the entire Valais region and is on sale beginning in November.
In addition to trying out some great new ski models, pre-season visitors will enjoy great skiing conditions, fewer crowds and lower rates on Zermatt hotels. Zermatt is a well-known Swiss Alps ski resort that attracts thousands of visitors each year.
